Stainless Steel

In September, 2003 we published a product bulletin about an improvement in Stainless Steels, which yields significantly better corrosion resistance. We now can offer an improvement in that product that product.

The Ultra Stainless Steel powders, supplied by Ametek Specialty Products, are conventional austenitic compositions, alloyed with small amounts of tin and then blended with a copper-nickel-tin alloy. The results are shown below and are what we published in September.

Note that we have added the "316 L Plus". 316 L Plus has a higher percentage of nickel and molybdenum; therefore it took at least 50% longer to show any signs of corrosion in comparison with regular 316L stainless steel. The result is an improved corrosion resistance, reflected in the comparative table below:
